Ok, so I finally set up a blog after about a year of putting it off!

I’m sure if I had a list of “things to do before I die”, making this blog would have been something I could have crossed off, (amongst lots of other entirely more interesting and less geeky things, I promise!) so at least now in the (impossible, we’re told) eventuality that things do go pear-shaped with the CERN LHC experiment and the world is consumed by a black hole, I can think “I’m really glad I set up a blog..” in my last fractions of a second, or something like that.

I’m quite keen on photography so the coward in me seriously thought about making this a pictures-only photoblog, to completely avoid the inevitability of embarrassing myself by writing on the internet… but in the end I decided to go the whole hog with the blog and keep my photos on flickr .

I decided on forcing myself to write things mainly to remove myself from my comfort zone, but also because I’m a relatively recent Mac-switcher and Linux-learner. I really hope that at least something I end up posting, be it a guide to something or a fix to a problem I had, may be useful to a confused googler! I’ve been making note of things I’ve found useful for a short while with the intention of sharing them – I’ll probably post them soon.
